Dear Friends,
Welcome to THE PTSD GENERATION presented by Gotmysecondwind. Thank you for joining me on my journey to a place and time that defined my life. Over the course of the next two months I will visit key locations and events surrounding the war in Southeast Asia and a time that not only shaped my life but a generation as well. It's not about being pro or anti war in this Blog but more importantly it's realizing the reality of war and what it does to us as people. That said, please follow the journey with an open mind and realize not everyone views the world in the same light and voicing your opinion is always welcomed as we travel together.
My work takes me to venues and shares ideas that are not always popular but are always treated with respect. I'm compelled to do this simply because no one did it for me and in doing so perhaps I can make a difference in some ones life, especially the young. As you follow my story take from it what you will and use it to further understand who we are. You will meet special people along the way that will make you laugh and cry but I assure you will always touch your heart. They are ordinary people caught in incredibly unusual situations and only through circumstance and chance do I find myself engaged in their lives. When all is said and done at the end of the day this story is about us and the human spirit. Thank you for sharing my journey.
Sincerely,
Frank
THE JOURNEY BEGINS SEPTEMBER 29, 2014

Awesome Site, can't wait.
ReplyDeleteTesting 1,2,3,. That was very easy and user friendly.
ReplyDeleteThe day you left it occurred to me what a large part of our family narrative your experience in Vietnam has been. It is if we are all returning with you, to confront our birthplace and history. In a way, we are just as committed as you are to your experience in South East Asia and to the resolution of your journey through Vietnam. Keep us with you. We are all so proud of you.

What wonderful support.
DeleteFrank I am 59 and my number was 200+. You guys are men I look up to and respect for what you gave for me and mine. I will follow everyday, and I can't wait to hear how strong you will feel knowing who you are today, came from and through who you were in 1969. I read the "Greatest Generation", and it is incorrectly titled. It should be, "One of Several Great Generations". Thanks for teaching me what it is about. Cliff 11/1955
ReplyDeleteGood luck to you and blessings to you. We all have paths to follow.
ReplyDeleteMy name is Michael Sweeney, 47 from Bay Shore. I am also friends with Pete. I would like to wish you a safe trip & possibly get together and talk when you return.
ReplyDeleteRead about your trip in Newsday today. Looking forward to hearing about your very real experiences and remembrances.
ReplyDeleteAnd thank you for your service.
I am the daughter of a Vietnam Nam vet, I read the paper often, Newsday as I reside on LI. The war was not brought up for discussion maybe because of house of girls and or the horror many experienced over there.
ReplyDeleteToday as I read the article I notice the date 28- as this is - was our fathers birthday. We lost him 12/21/12
I have grown up with such pride to be an American - Robert Strutzenberg
aka Bob was our Uncle Sam / apple pie! ALS took him 100% service related. He was a trooper hoo rah
Semper fi till the end . I wish you to travel safely and with peace.
Thank you for your service .

ReplyDeleteWords can not describe the emotions felt as I read the story of your experiences: smiles, tears, sighs, horror. But I am happy that you made it safely to your new journey, revisiting Southeast Asia. Following along with you as you find your reasons WHY. Safe journey, my friend. J. Judd
