COLORADO

The Colorado Rockies are especially breathtaking during fall and early winter. Vail, Aspen, Steamboat Springs, and Breckenridge boasts some of the worlds best skiing not to mention their scenery. The scenery was beautiful. I passed through these towns and there was already a foot or two of snow on the ground and the slopes were full.

I left Chaco Canyon and the four corners and headed north into Colorado. The drive was scenic to say the least and I headed for Denver. I hadn't showered or shaved for a week and I needed to come out of the cold and regroup. I stayed with Mary Beth and Kris and we did up Denver. Denver is a sprawling city with a modern downtown. The neighborhoods seemed to be older with magnificent old stately homes. I was impressed with the layout of the Mile High City but was disappointed with its nightlife. There were no people to speak of on the streets. On a Saturday night and Sunday afternoon the city had a post apocalyptic appeal to it, deserted. It was eerie. You could pull up to the equivalent of our Central Park and literally park anywhere and go from your car to the grass without shoes there was no one home,  nobody, nodda, zilch,, nothing.

Snow time !
Heading for the slopes.

The drive out of town.

Getting there is half the fun.

Downtown Denver, even the big blue bear is lonely.
