TAOS

Taos is New Mexico's answer to Moab Utah. Nestled in the San Juan Mountains and surrounded by Carson National Forest it's elevation averages 10,000 ft. Home of Kit Carson, it lies adjacent to Cimarron the notorious outlaw town.

Today Taos is a Mecca for artists from all over the world. Built in a traditional Pueblo style the main streets are lined with galleries, museums, art exhibits and stores, and an array of choch-ka's of the highest quality. This town is not a 5 and dime town.

But the fun side of Taos is world class. You can partake in a festival or two, lets see. There is: art, fiber art, folk life, music, storytelling, wool blanket, brewmaster, winter, lilac, Pueblo, and a host of more festivals that this blog has no time for. Take my word for it there is something going on everyday of the year.

I however decided to hike into the Grand Gorge of the Rio Grande River and search out a hot spring I have heard about. The trail was a dirt road out of town I took until my van couldn't go any further than a 5 mile hike down the canyon wall to the banks of the Rio Grande River. Adjacent to the river at the foot of the canyon wall, about 2,000 ft down, were molting sulphur steam pots of spring water. These bubbling cauldrons of hot mineral water were trapped by walls of rock separating them from the river.  These were the MANBY HOT SPRINGS of Taos.

This adventure that I am on has taking me to a new awareness of myself and a liberation I only dreamed of before. But today I rose to new heights. Today I soaked my tired old bones in a hot springs nude. Yes I said it. MANBY HOT SPRINGS is a nude hot springs. There I was, in all my glory, taking in health minerals with the rest of the artsy community of Taos. I love art.
2nd Wind Pueblo style.
All of Taos looks like these next few photos.

Even the church fits in.
This is not a statue, it grazes right behind Main Street on a side street.
Another beauty!
Surprised !
ACES !!!
