Julian CA is a cowboy town nestled in high desert mountains on the edge of The Anza-Borrego Desert. But instead of saloons littering it's Main Street it hosts the largest collection of bakeries I've ever seen. Famous for its pies, it has everything from apple rhubarb mango walnut to cinanamon raisin peach cobbler smeared with avocado.
I stopped in this one horse, I mean one pie, town just to check it out. I hadn't eaten yet and I was a little hungry. That changed fast. In minutes I was drooling. Shop after shop of bakery cafe's, old fashion ice cream parlors, featuring pies of course, and eateries squeezed it's Main Street. There was nothing else. It was a Bakery Oasis in the desert.
I picked a bakery cafe at random and stood on line. When it was my turn I had to choose a pie. There were two dozen different pies to choose from. Next, choose a topping, there were two dozen toppings to choose from. I lost my mind and left. The pressure was to much.
