NAVAJO NATIONAL MONUMENT

The reason I camped on Navajo land was to see the cliff dwellings at Navajo National Monument. The Navajo never occupied this dwelling it was abandoned almost a thousand years ago by Pueblo's. the dwelling sits on Navajo land and so it got its name.

Below is the cave seen from a distance, I was a out mile from the village. To put it into perspective the height of the cave opening is 500 feet and over a football field wide. There are 135 rooms in the town and about 100 to 150 people lived there. Betataken Village was lived in for a out 200 years then abandoned for no apparent reason.

Unfortunately I was not permitted to enter the site today when I took the pictures but tomorrow I will be actually in a site.
Those are actual buildings.
