HIGH DESERT

Southern California's high desert is exactly what it sounds like, a dry barren sparse landscape at high altitudes. This unforgiving environment has been transformed into magnificent landscaped communities of wealth and beauty. Everything, meaning all foliage had to be imported and planted.

I desended the Siera Nevada's on the east side from Death Valley and the Mohave Desert, first south then west, into Southern California. At first I came apon a dry barren landscape   but as I drove further west the beauty of Sourhern California hit me.

My host's John and Kathy, two childhood friends, took me in as family and introduced me to Cal living, a culture like no other. From beach to desert and everything in between I experienced it all. Thank you both, I love you.

There is much to much going on in Southern CA to squeeze into one blog so I divide and conquer and to me conquer is an appropriate word. I am overwhelmed with information. I begin in the desert, the first area I entered.
